Kursar, who also serves as chief data and technology officer and group vice president for Toyota Motor North America, earned the accolade through helping TCNA and TMNA advance into new technology domains, such as artificial intelligence, while continuing to fully modernize and future-proof Toyota’s information technologies.
Each year, CDO Magazine recognizes forward-thinking data leaders who guide their companies to continue pushing the proverbial needle and strive for reaching new accomplishments in data, analytics and AI in North America.
Kursar has had a knack for bringing innovation to Toyota. Whether it’s standing up a global hackathon to suss out new innovations or helping create the Toyota Big Data Cloud within TCNA, he’s understood the power information technologies can hold for Toyota.
More recently, Kursar helped form the Enterprise AI organization within TMNA’s OneTech IT division, working within the Toyota Way to take advantage of new technologies while maintaining Toyota’s core tenet of respect for people. The division is already introducing team members to new tools and resources to make their work more productive and engaging through a vast network of previously untapped resources.
“I am humbled to be named a CDO Magazine Top 10 Influencer,” Kursar said. “Toyota is a very large company, and it’s our mission to make sure it’s in lockstep with the digital revolutions going on right now. We’ve accomplished a lot, and we’re not done yet. This is just the beginning of showing what Toyota can do.”
